CHAI CYCLE
Cycling, Conversation & Jewish Community

Upcoming Rides
Sunday, June 7 & Monday, June 8 "All Spokes" Rides in Tahoe
These rides are designed to bring ALL our Chai Cycle spokes together. Get to know Chai Cyclists from the Bay Area, Reno, Sacramento, and beyond! Ride one or both days. Meet at 8:45, ride at 9:00, back 12:30ish.
Conversation Topics: (We are working on it!).
Rabbi Evon Yakar, Tahoe Jewish Community, will teach one day, and Rabbi Jamie Hyams will teach the other. Non-riders welcome to join us at the conversation stops (and maybe bring snacks that Chai Cycle will happily cover).
Sunday, June 7 - Mountain Pass Climb
33 miles, 2,100’ of climbing, and the ascent averages 5%. Our route will be undulating as we spin our legs towards Route 89. We’ll ride through a neighborhood approaching the climb, then climb a quiet campground ride, avoiding most of the highway proper for the climb. At the top, we’ll take a photo and enjoy the amazing view.
Monday, June 8 - Local Ride
25 miles, 1,400’ of climbing with one sustained ~1 mile climb. An in-town classic ride exploring the city of South Lake Tahoe, some super quiet back roads, a short hardy climb, and more. This ride offers bike path, quiet pavement sections, beautiful vistas, and a great way to experience road riding in South Lake Tahoe. This ride is a great recovery ride for those choosing America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride to ride around the Lake on Sunday, and a great sustained effort for those focused on shorter mileage.
Both rides for this 2-day experience will be wonderful opportunities to meet, learn together, and live the missions of Chai Cycle and Tahoe Jewish Community.

Tour de Torah? East Bay Jewish Cycling Group Looks to Expand its Radius

Blog
Our circle forms bit by bit as we finish prepping for our morning ride. We stand in intentional community, a group of bicyclists coming together for cycling, community and Jewish conversation. We take a moment to articulate our intention in gathering as a group of Jewish cyclists.
“May our ride be safe (שתוליכו ותכסיסנו בשלום),...
